Arsenal begin talks over move for Brazilian starlet Reinier Jesus

Arsenal have reportedly began talks with Reinier Jesus’ father over a potential move for the Brazilian teenager.

According to the Mirror via Mundo Deportivo, Jesus’ father has travelled to Europe amid interest from a number of sides and Arsenal have contacted him with regards to a potential move.

The Gunners are reportedly hoping the signing of Gabriel Martinelli will bolster their chances of landing Reiner Jesus; after he made the move from Ituano last summer.

Manchester City, Juventus, Everton and Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be interested in the 17-year-old, who has a release clause of €70million included in his deal with Flamengo.

READ ARSENAL VERDICT

While Jesus sounds like a hugely exciting talent, Arsenal should certainly be wary of the reported release clause of €70million.

That would be an astronomical fee for a 17-year-old and Atletico Madrid have already been put off a move for Jesus due to that figure.

Martinelli’s move to Arsenal has certainly been a success thus far however, with seven goals in nine appearances in all competitions, and the Gunners are understandably keen to sign another player in that mould.
