Keown admits Emery needs to make immediate improvement

Arsenal legend Martin Keown has admitted that Unai Emery needs an immediate improvement or could face the consequences.

Many Arsenal fans are calling for the club to sack Emery but the board members have expressed their support for the Spaniard.

Keown feels that Emery has already been at the club longer than expected and if results don’t improve quickly, he could be out of the door.

As quoted on Goal, Keown said:

We’ve lost that brand of football Arsenal had, the beautiful football they played under Arsene Wenger. We’re losing our identity and we need to get it back really quickly. He looks like a man under pressure.

He’s getting fractious in the media in terms of his communication, every time we see him it’s three-word answers, it’s not quite the projection the club will want. He’s got to bounce back now. The board will back him as long as they can, but he needs to improve the performances.

I wish Emery well, but I believe we’re now on borrowed time.

Many Arsenal fans can’t stand Emery as the club’s manager anymore so Keown’s comments will be pretty exciting for them.

There was plenty of frustration when the club’s board revealed their support for the former Paris Saint Germain boss.

Letting Emery go would please the fans but from a club perspective, they need to ensure an adequate replacement is already in place.
