With still over three years remaining on his current contract at the Emirates, it would be a huge shame to see Torreira leave the club so soon.

He has often been misused and undervalued by Unai Emery and his unhappiness has been clear to see.

Arsenal fans will be left wondering what could’ve been had he consistently been deployed in his favoured position.

During eight of his nine [Premier League appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/lucas-torreira/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/318077/wettbewerb/GB1/saison/2019) this season, he has been played in a more attacking central midfield role, not a position that traditionally plays to his strengths.

Emery has often been reluctant to use him as an out-and-out defensive midfeilder, despite it being a position that has troubled the club for such a long time.
