# Wolves scout plays down links to Arsenal target Franck Kessie

Wolves’ chief scout John Marshall has cast doubts over a potential move to sign Arsenal-linked midfielder Franck Kessie.

[As reported by Calciomercato](https://dlvr.it/RJBf0M), Marshall gave his thoughts on the recent rumours linking Wolves to the Milan midfielder.

When asked if he could fit into the Wolves team, Marshall said:

> True, but if I look at our midfield and the pattern used by the coach, I already see three international midfielders for two roles. If we were to buy him today where would he play? There is so much competition in that role.

Earlier this week it was [suggested](https://readarsenal.com/2019/11/12/wolves-in-pole-position-to-land-arsenal-linked-kessie/) Wolves were in ‘pole position’ to sign the player in January – that may no longer be the case.

Arsenal were [linked](https://readarsenal.com/2019/06/25/arsenal-offered-kessie-swap-deal-for-torreira-is-this-a-good-deal/) with a swap deal to sign Kessie over the summer that would’ve seen Lucas Torreira head in the opposite direction.

Reports linking the Uruguayan midfielder to Italy are [resurfacing again](https://readarsenal.com/2019/11/07/milan-plotting-fresh-bid-for-unhappy-lucas-torreira/), so this may not be the last we’ve heard about a potential move for Kessie either.

Wolves dropping out of the race to sign Kessie would be great news for the Gunners if they are to go back in for the player.

While Marshall may not think there is much room for him in the Wolves side, Arsenal might be looking to strengthen their options in the middle of the park over the coming months.

Granit Xhaka is facing an uncertain future at the club, while Torreira has found it hard to break through under Emery this season – something that could open up a slot for Kessie.
