Emmanuel Petit believes that Arsenal officials have been lying when they pubicly backed under-pressure boss Unai Emery.
Many fans called for the Gunners to part ways with the Spaniard after the 2-0 defeat to Leicester City prior to the international break.
However, Raul Sanllehi and managing director Vinai Venkatesham insisted they had no immediate plans to remove Emery from his position.

The 48-year-old is likely to be given until the new year to change his fortunes around, but former midfielder Petit thinks the Gunners are acting as many sides do ‘when they sense tension’.
Talking to Paddy Power, cited by the Daily Express, Petit said:
What the club came out and said about Emery’s job being safe is not true at all.
Everyone knows this the typical official language clubs send out to the press and fans when things are not going well, when they sense tension.
This is a political answer and most of the time when I hear officials or shareholders talk like this it’s proof for me that they’re already thinking about sacking the manager.
It’s the opposite of what they’re saying that might be true.

We’re with Petit on this one, with the Gunners feeling they had to come out and publicly back the boss even though they are having doubts.
The dreaded vote of confidence usually results in a manager’s departure shortly after, and by the looks of it, Arsenal fans are hoping that Petit is right and the Gunners do decide to part ways with Emery before the new year.
