Arsenal monitoring Demiral’s dire situation at Juventus

Arsenal’s defence remains to be a major topic for discussion and Unai Emery could have to opportunity to strengthen his squad further in January.

Since joining for €18million in the summer, Merih Demiral hasn’t played a single minute for Juventus this season after the big-money arrival of Matthijs de Ligt

According to Calciomercato, cited by Sport Witness, Arsenal and Atletico Madrid are ‘carefully monitoring’ the centre-back’s current situation.

Juventus director of football Fabio Paratici is said to rate the 21-year-old highly and won’t let him leave for less than €40million, a fee that’s said to have put off a third suitor in AC Milan.

Demiral has earned 10 caps for Turkey and bears plenty of experience for such a young player.

The report claims he doesn’t like the idea of being Maurizio Sarri’s final option and he’s set to speak to his agents in December to try and find a solution.

David Luiz is yet to make a major impact at the Emirates Stadium whilst the jury is still well and truly out on Sokratis, so a new central defender arrival could very well be on the cards.

It’s an opportunity Emery could take very seriously either in January or the summer.
