Arsenal fans have reacted to the news that Riyad Mahrez almost made the move to the Gunners from Leicester City back in 2016.
The 28-year-old, who now plies his trade with defending champions Manchester City, recently confirmed that a move to the Emirates was almost done three years ago before the Foxes pulled the plug.
Arsenal fan @PatrickTimmons1 shared the wide man’s quotes on social media on Monday afternoon, and as expected, it received plenty of interaction.
The Gunners have failed to live up to expectations in recent years, so these Arsenal fans believed the Algerian dodged a bullet with the proposed move collapsing.

There’s no doubting that Mahrez’s arrival back in 2016 would have been a huge addition for Arsene Wenger’s side.
However, for the player himself, maybe waiting a few more years before his eventual transfer to City was a blessing in disguise.
It sounds bad, but Mahrez has probably benefitted more by avoiding a switch to north London, and he can be added to the long list of stars who ‘almost’ made the move to the Emirates.
