Arsenal and Tottenham have both ‘taken information’ on Napoli forward Dries Mertens.
According to Il Mattino, as cited on Sport Witness, Juventus have also enquired about a deal to sign the player in the new year.
Antonio Conte’s Inter are keen to sign the player who is out of contract at the end of the season too. With the Belgian forward approaching the end of his current deal, it is claimed that the Premier League duo are keeping tabs on his situation as they consider summer swoops.

For both clubs, this would be quite the signing, especially when you consider he’d be arriving on a free.
Mertens has established himself as one of the best versatile attackers across European football in recent years. With 66 league goals to his name since the 2016-17 season, Mertens has been in brilliant form for Gli Azzurri.

The report appears to suggest that a deal to move elsewhere in Italy is more likely as things stand – meaning it could be difficult for either Arsenal or Tottenham to get a move over the line.
Mertens is due to turn 33 next year, but as free transfers go, it wouldn’t be bad business for either side to bring him in as a short-term signing to bolster their attacking options.
