# Enrique not interested in the Arsenal job

Arsenal have been dealt a managerial blow with the news that Luis Enrique is not interested in taking the Gunners job.

[According to ESPN, as cited on Sports Mole](https://www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/arsenal/news/enrique-not-interested-in-arsenal-job_378617.html), the former Barcelona and Spain boss would not be willing to join the London club halfway through the season.

It remains to be seen what his stance would be if an approach were to happen over the summer.

Enrique is one of a number of managers to be linked with the role if Emery is dismissed by the club.

It’s bad news for Arsenal, but it’s a reflection of the position that they find themselves in.

Unsure on what to do with Unai Emery, Arsenal may be forced into holding out for a manager to become available.

There are only a hanful of what you’d consider ‘elite’ managers on the market at the minute and not many would be willing to take over at a club midseason, they would rather wait for a job to become available in the summer, where they have an opportunity to really put a stamp on proceedings.

Enrique could yet still become a contender for the Arsenal job later down the line, but the Gunners are going to have to play the long game if they are looking to make a change in the dugout it seems.
