However, Emery’s side conceded in stoppage time through Bruno Duarte, and in truth, it was the least the Portuguese side deserved.

Following Arsenal’s woeful performance, Emery shocked supporters by claiming he was happy with how his side defended.

It was very important for us today to be strong defensively, I think we did that.

Arsenal fan @PatrickTimmons1 shared the Spaniard’s quotes on social media, which led to plenty of backlash from these supporters.

Some even called for Leicester striker Jamie Vardy to end Emery’s Emirates tenure this weekend.

We know the pressure is building on Emery, but his post-match comments are complete nonsense.

There was little to be positive about on Wednesday afternoon, and those fans who made the effort to watch the Gunners in action will probably be wishing they didn’t.

The Premier League fixture against Leicester City appears to be crucial in regards to Emery’s Emirates future, and a defeat at the King Power could spell the end.
