Arsenal to make January Hinteregger move

Arsenal are interested in a January deal to sign Eintracht Frankfurt defender Martin Hinteregger.

According to Football Insider, the Gunners will go head-to-head with West Ham in pursuit of the Austrian international.

The report claims that Arsenal scouts have been watching the player closely this season and could now make a move in January.

Hinteregger is valued at £22 million, so this would by no means be a cheap deal for the club to pull off.

As things stand at Arsenal, you’d have to ask whether or not the club really need another defender in their ranks this season.

With William Saliba due to arrive next summer, the Gunners are well-stocked for central defenders unless they see another player leaving in the near future.

If Sokratis or David Luiz are to depart the club, a move to sign Hinteregger would then make sense.

If he is signed as a potential replacement for one of the older defenders, this deals begins to look like a solid piece of business for the Gunners. At 27, he should be approaching his prime years, with European football already under his belt.
