# Arsenal fans warming to the idea of Arteta replacing Emery

Arsenal fans are warming to the idea of hiring Mikel Arteta as a replacement for Unai Emery after seeing an old quote from Arsene Wenger circulate around social media.

Now an assistant at Manchester City, the former Gunners midfielder is among the [favourites](https://readarsenal.com/2019/11/04/arsenal-earmark-arteta-or-allegri-to-replace-emery/) to replace the underfire Spaniard if he is sacked in the near future.

As cited on social media by [Gunners.com](https://twitter.com/Gunnersc0m/status/1191306641729314816?s=20), speaking back in 2018, Wenger said this about the 37-year-old:

> He has all the qualities to do the job…He was a leader, has a good passion for the game & knows the club well, he knows what is important at the club…Why not?

These Arsenal fans on social media would certainly be interested in seeing Arteta in the Emirates dugout.

### Read Arsenal verdict

If he’s good enough for Arsene Wenger, then surely Arteta is good enough to replace Emery, right?

Arteta is somebody who has always been tipped to go into management and after learning his trade at Manchester City under Pep Guardiola, he’ll feel confident about his chances.

Working alongside the very best at the top of the Premier League will stand Arteta in good stead for when the time comes to go it alone, it just remains to be seen if Arsenal will be the team to take that risk on the Spaniard.
