Arsenal are keen on bringing Manchester City’s head of academy recruitment and talent Joe Shields to the Emirates, and the news has gone down extremely well with some Gunners supporters.
According to the Daily Mail, head of academy Per Mertesacker and technical director Edu are keen on bringing Shields to north London as they look to shake things up in the club’s youth system.
Shields has worked with the Premier League champions for the past six years and played a key role in bringing Jadon Sancho to the Etihad in 2015.
The Gunners recently parted ways with head of youth scouting Steve Morrow, and after @ZR_7G1 shared the latest news on social media, many were left excited at Shields’ possible arrival.

It would be an excellent piece of business if the Gunners can bring in someone of Shields’ pedigree.
He’s had plenty of success in recent years in bringing in various youngsters to City’s academy, and with Arsenal’s youth setup also highly thought of, he could be interested in a change.
It’s good to see both Mertesacker and Edu really getting into their new roles, and if they can lure Shields to north London, the pair would come in for plenty of praise from the Arsenal faithful.
