# Blow for Leeds as Whelan thinks Nketiah will miss at least three weeks

Former Leeds United striker Noel Whelan believes that Eddie Nketiah could miss at least three weeks of football.

[Speaking to Football Insider,](https://www.footballinsider247.com/exclusive-noel-whelan-reveals-leeds-united-nketiah-verdict/) he bemoaned the injury that kept the Arsenal loanee out of the 2-0 win over Queens Park Rangers recently.

As of yet, Leeds themselves are yet to put a timeframe on Nketiah’s return.

> He has a stomach muscle strain and those are nasty injuries. He was going for a scan and we are awaiting the results of that, but I think he will be unable to play for around three weeks, maybe more.
>
> It doesn’t surprise me he has a strain around that region because he is a dynamic player and those types are more prone to them.
>
> It will take time to repair the damage, and that is a major blow as he would have started on Saturday.

It’s an untimely blow for both Leeds and Nketiah, who was just getting up to speed at Elland Road.

After taking so long to break into the side, it’s a cruel injury for the striker who, like Whelan alluded to, would’ve been in line to start against Blackburn this weekend.

Nketiah will be hoping that it is only three weeks that he’s out for and he can hit the ground running upon his return.

His form in a Leeds shirt has warranted first-team football and he deserves the opportunity to show what he can do in the Championship this season.
