Emery unsure of Ozil and Martinelli involvement against Wolves

Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil starred in the Carabao Cup defeat to Liverpool at Anfield in midweek.

The German international was handed a start by Unai Emery after failing to make the Gunners’ matchday squad for several weeks.

The playmaker’s performance at Anfield received plenty of praise from pundits and fans and Emery has confirmed that he is still unsure if Ozil and Gabriel Martinelli will feature against Wolves.

As quoted on the club’s official website, Emery said regarding the duo:

It is very important to use lots of players because we are playing lots of matches, and it’s a challenge for them to show how they can help us.

The performance was positive at Liverpool and I am thinking of how they can help us tomorrow.

There is absolutely no doubt that Arsenal fans want to see Ozil starting against Wolves. The German is Arsenal’s most creative player, as could be seen at Anfield.

However, Emery seems to want a lot more from him or just prefers the other players in the squad to him, which is starting to frustrate fans. Ozil deserves to start after his midweek showing.

As for Martinelli, he clearly has a goalscoring instinct but with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette, he’s likely to be on the bench.
