# Arsenal fans want Mourinho hired to bring the best out of Ozil

Earlier this week, Jose Mourinho was rather tentatively [linked](https://le10sport.com/football/mercato/mercato-real-madrid-nouveau-rebondissement-pour-lavenir-de-jose-mourinho-478988) with the Arsenal job.

The suggestions prompted a mixed reaction from the Arsenal fan base and given his history with Chelsea and Manchester United, it’s easy to see why.

However, there were some Arsenal fans that saw the bigger picture and the possibility of him working alongside Mesut Ozil once again had these supporters on social media excited.

### Read Arsenal verdict

Mesut Ozil arguably played his best football during his time at Real Madrid under Mourinho.

Arsenal fans have witnessed that in patches during his spell in London, but his levels have dropped in recent years.

Many considered Ozil to be among the best midfield players in the world at his peak in Madrid. It showed, as during the 2011/12 season he was [nominated](https://www.uefa.com/memberassociations/news/newsid=1842518.html) for the UEFA Best Player in Europe Award.

Due to turn 32 next year, it remains to be seen how close Ozil could get to being back at that level. However, the prospect of him linking up with Mourinho once again after being shunned to the sidelines by Emery is an exciting one, clearly.
