Arsenal fans hit back at Carragher after he slams Mustafi’s Liverpool display

A section of Arsenal fans have quickly hit back at Jamie Carragher after the former Reds defender slammed Shkodran Mustafi.

The German’s unfortunate own goal started a crazy affair between Unai Emery and Jurgen Klopp’s rotated sides, with Liverpool eventually winning a penalty shootout following a 5-5 draw in 90 minutes.

And talking on Sky Sports’ live broadcast, cited by Arsenal fan page @afcsource, Carragher hit out at the German in an astonishing rant.

When you play with someone like that, it makes you nervous. Your goalkeeper, your full-backs, you can’t play your own game.

You’re always worried that he’s going to make a mistake. I think the quicker he’s gone, the better for everyone.

The comments, as expected, quickly made its way across social media, and some Arsenal supporters were quick to fire back at Carragher’s claims.

The 27-year-old hasn’t exactly been a fan favourite at the Emirates over the past 12 months, but its good to see these Gunners supporters getting behind the defender.

Mustafi had been pretty solid in his four appearances prior to the clash with Liverpool, so one dodgy display shouldn’t warrant the criticism he is receiving.

As one fan mentioned, Rob Holding didn’t have the best of evenings, however, his display went under the radar.

Hopefully, the German can put his Anfield performance behind him, and it would be a major shame if Emery decides to leave him out in the Gunners’ next cup competition encounter against Vitoria next Thursday.
