Laurens reveals Arsenal don’t want to appoint Mourinho
French football expert Julien Laurens says that those behind the scenes at Arsenal don’t want Jose Mourinho to replace Unai Emery.
Speaking about the former Man United and Chelsea boss, as reported by the Express, Laurens explains that the Arsenal board will give Emery time to turn things around this season.
At the moment Emery is safe and well safe as well. There’s not even a question about ‘who could come next now because he’s going to be sacked soon?’.
And I don’t think Mourinho, if he wants to apply for the job and the job becomes available then so be it, [but] I don’t think that for people at the top of the club, on the board, the Kroenke family and Raul Sanllehi and people like that, would really have someone like Mourinho with that kind of profile in their mind to take over Emery when that will happen.

The links to Mourinho did come as a surprise to many. When you consider the profile of manager that Emery is, Mourinho is the polar opposite.
Add to that his history with both Manchester United and Chelsea, two of Arsenal’s biggest rivals during the modern Premier League era – the links don’t exactly make too much sense.
Arsenal fans can take hope that the board haven’t forgotten about the bad blood between the two parties.
Any move to bring in Mourinho would be a controversial one and while it may be welcomed by some, there is no guarantee it would go down all that well at the Emirates.
