Neco Williams set to make his Liverpool debut against Arsenal

Arsenal will come up against a brand news opponent later this evening as a reliable journalist has reported that Liverpool plan to give one player his debut in the game.

According to Goal‘s Neil Jones, young full-back Neco Williams will start for the Reds in their Carabao Cup fourth-round clash with the Gunners this evening.

The 18-year-old has shone at Liverpool’s academy, impressing with his mature performances at right-back and it looks like he will be rewarded by Jurgen Klopp, who will use him against Arsenal.

This news means that first-choice right-back, Trent Alexander-Arnold, looks set to be given the night off, along with the likes of Alisson, Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, all of whom are expected to be rested.

It will be a proud night for Williams but the Gunners must show no mercy and look to test him whenever possible.

There are bound to be a few nerves for the teenager and without the guidance of some of Liverpool’s best players around him, Arsenal will need to test him early and often.

Arsenal are not in a good place currently, with poor results and divisions between the manager, players and fans on show for the world to see.

However poor their record is at Anfield, playing against an under-strength Liverpool team provides a wonderful opportunity for Unai Emery’s men to book a place in the quarter-finals and help lift spirits.
