# United ‘expected’ to sign Haaland – is it time for Arsenal to also look elsewhere?

Napoli believe that Manchester United will complete the signing of Arsenal-[linked](https://readarsenal.com/2019/09/18/arsenal-interested-in-szoboszlai-and-haaland-do-they-stand-any-chance/) Erling Haaland from RB Salzburg.

As such, [Corriere dello Sport](https://www.corrieredellosport.it/news/calcio/serie-a/napoli/2019/10/25-62620850/haaland_ha_stregato_il_napoli_lo_vuole_anche_il_manchester_united/), as cited on the [Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7624755/Napoli-expect-Man-United-complete-signing-RB-Salzburgs-Erling-Haaland-January-r.html), report that the Italian side have ended their interest in the [18-goal](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/315227/Show/Erling-Haaland) striker as a result.

Napoli scout Loris Boni believes that a deal is likely if Solskjaer remains in charge.

Convinced that they won’t be able to better an offer from United, Napoli are not wasting any time and will now look elsewhere – is it time Arsenal do the same?

Napoli may just have the right idea here. Arsenal have their own problems to deal with and areas that they need to strengthen.

Signing a striker looks like it could soon become a priority, [amid suggestions](https://twitter.com/DailyAFC/status/1188918519129432064) both Lacazette and Aubameyang could leave the club if Champions League qualification is not secured.

If the club are not playing Champions League football next season, there is simply no way they’ll be able to compete with the teams that will be vying to sign Haaland.

When the likes of Juventus and Barcelona are being touted, Champions League football is the bare minimum Arsenal will need to even stand a chance of competing for his signature.
