Xherdan Shaqiri will miss Liverpool’s clash against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup round of 16 on Wednesday night.
The Switzerland international has been largely unavailable to Jurgen Klopp throughout the opening quarter of the season, and the Reds have confirmed that he will be out of action until after next month’s international break with a calf injury.

Liverpool are likely to make changes for the cup tie against Arsenal, with their primary focus set to be on winning an elusive Premier League title this term.

However, their wide options are somewhat limited already, indicating that the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane could be called upon at Anfield on Wednesday.
Arsenal head into the game as the clear underdogs, but succeeding in the cup competitions may be crucial for Unai Emery, who is under pressure following an underwhelming start to the season.
Both teams are set to field rotated sides, but Klopp’s choices will be restricted, with the likes of Shaqiri and Joel Matip sidelined.
