# Liverpool confirm Kelleher will start against Arsenal

Arsenal look poised to play a relatively young Liverpool squad tomorrow night at Anfield.

The club have already confirmed that young goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher will be given another start in-between the sticks.

[Speaking to the media](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/370891-caoimhin-kelleher-set-to-face-arsenal-in-cup-tie) ahead of the game, assistant manager Pepijn Lijnders revealed the youngster would be given another chance to shine.

> We have Adrian, who did an unbelievable job and if something happens with Ali, Adrian is our No.2 and then has to do the job. But in this League Cup, it is Caoimhin’s competition.

Some Arsenal fans may be surprised to see Liverpool sticking to their word in the League Cup.

Premier League teams are notorious for handing out game time in the earlier rounds, only to call upon the big guns at the first sign of danger.

You have to credit Liverpool for giving their youngsters game time, albeit against an Arsenal side that may also look very different to what you would consider to be their ‘full-strength XI’.

It’ll be a good test for Kelleher, but it’s a decision that the Gunners will be hoping to take advantage of.

If they spot any sign of weakness or nervousness from the young goalkeeper, the Arsenal forwards will be hoping to take their chances in front of goal.
