# Emery confirms that Xhaka will not play against Liverpool

Unai Emery has confirmed that Granit Xhaka will not play against Liverpool tomorrow night.

[As reported by Bleacher Report](https://twitter.com/brfootball/status/1189182558673620993), the Gunners boss has withdrawn the Swiss midfielder from the firing line after he clashed with supporters during the 2-2 home draw against Crystal Palace.

Neither Emery or the club confirmed whether or not Xhaka would be staying on as the club captain. It now looks like a decision will be made on that matter over the coming days and weeks.

Emery was expected to rotate his team for the game at Anfield anyway, but this looks like an attempt to take some of the heat off Xhaka. It remains to be seen if he will come back into the side for the Premier League clash against Wolves.

The captain reacted poorly after he was being substituted against Crystal Palace and is yet to comment on his actions in the aftermath of the draw.
