Arsenal make contact regarding Zakaria deal – the perfect signing?

Arsenal have reportedly held discussions with Denis Zakaria’s representatives over a potential move.

That’s according to Sky Deutschland, cited by Inside Futbol, who claim that the Gunners, as well as Liverpool and Manchester United, have all made their first moves for the in-demand Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder.

The report adds that Monchengladbach could be tempted by a fee in the region of €50 million, but the Swiss star looks set to remain with his current employers until the summer.

Numerous other sides across Europe, including rivals Tottenham, are also thought to be tracking the 22-year-old, but would he be the perfect signing for the Gunners?

Zakaria has been a regular in the Bundesliga since moving from Young Boys back in 2017, and it’s no surprise to see a plethora of European giants circling the midfielder.

He’s been likened to Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira in the past, and the Gunners are desperate for a Vieira-like figure in the middle of the park once again.

Zakaria is big, strong, athletic and technically sound, four attributes that could see him take to life in the Premier League with ease.

There’s no doubting he’d be a perfect signing by Arsenal, however, with multiple sides also keen, the Gunners may need to secure Champions League qualification this season if they are to have any chance of securing the highly-rated midfielder’s services.
