Arsenal and Tottenham turned down €40m Olmo deal
Arsenal and Tottenham had the chance to sign Dani Olmo this summer, but both clubs decided to look elsewhere.
According to Alberto Pereiro, who was speaking on Onda Cero, as cited by Sport Witness, the two North London sides were in the running to sign the Spaniard.
Dinamo Zagreb were asking for €40m. Arsenal were interested, but then they got the opportunity to get Dani Ceballos on loan. They took that option. Tottenham were also interested, but then Giovani Lo Celso appeared. He was never the first option for anyone in a big club.
Olmo was coming off the back of a fantastic summer with Spain’s U21s, but the Gunners opted to sign his international team-mate Dani Ceballos instead.

In the long run, this may be a move that both the London clubs come to regret.
The former Barcelona youngster is really finding his feet in the senior game and has been impressing once again this season, particularly in the Champions League with Dinamo Zagreb.
He was one of the star men for Spain’s U21s over the summer as they lifted the European Championships and he looks destined for big things.
For the rumoured €40 million, it’s easy to see why both clubs turned down the move. The Zagreb star would surely be considered as too much of a risk for either club at this stage in his career.
However, he is showcasing his true potential on the biggest stage this season and he may well be a name we hear more about in the coming months.
