Pearce compares Nketiah to Liverpool’s Salah – does he have a point?

Young Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah has been compared to Liverpool star Mohamed Salah by ex-Man City boss Stuart Pearce.

Speaking during BT Sport’s coverage of England’s U21 win on Tuesday night, as reported by The Boot Room, Pearce said:

I think if I was a striker in this day and age, a young English striker, I’d just copy Mo Salah in his movement, running in behind. Nketiah’s certainly got that trait about him. The ones that run in behind are the ones that score goals in the modern game.

Does the English youngster have similar traits?

This is certainly high praise indeed. If Nketiah can go on to get close to the level that Salah is currently performing at then Arsenal have a serious talent on their hands going forward.

You can see where Pearce is coming from, his movement off the ball is particularly impressive for a player so young. Although, it must be said that Nketiah is much more of a traditional striker when compared to Salah.

Like Salah has done many times this season and last, Nketiah left fans in awe after he scored three goals against Austria in an emphatic 5-1 win on Tuesday.

Arsenal fans will now be hoping to see more of the youngster going forward – with his future at Leeds United unclear. Perhaps a move away from Elland Road will bring the best out of him and allow the striker to develop into the talent that many hope he can become.
