Arsenal fans want to see Torreira given a more defensive role

Arsenal fans have called on Unai Emery to play Lucas Torreira in a more defensive role against Sheffield United.

Torreira has struggled to break into the Arsenal team at times this season and when he has done, he has not always been playing in his more favoured position.

Unai Emery has often deployed him in a more advanced role, a move that has not always been beneficial to him or the rest of the team.

After seeing him impress while away with Uruguay, these Arsenal fans on social media are calling for him to play deeper.

Twitter: @Arsenal @LTorreira34 Just play him as a DM when he comes back (@theodox_dip)

Arsenal fans are desperate to see more of Torreira but there is something that Emery clearly does not like.

Perhaps it’s an inability to trust him in key games or the lack of physical presence that he can provide when compared to a player like Matteo Guendouzi, who has enjoyed a fine start to the season.

Unfortunately for the former Sampdoria man, there just doesn’t seem to be a natural place for him in the side as things stand.
