# Wages holding up Fenerbahce’s Ozil bid – who will make the next move?

Mesut Ozil’s wages are proving to be a sticking point in Fenerbahce’s bid to sign the German on loan in January.

[According to Takvim, as cited on Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/club-chief-transfers-talks-sign-arsenal-player-trying-get-compromise/), Arsenal want the Turkish side to pay the majority of the player’s wages as part of their loan bid.

However, it is claimed that Fenerbahce are only looking to pay around half. Such is the size of his wages, this was always going to be a tough deal to finalise, so what happens next?

Both clubs appear to be keeping their cards close to their chests, but one of them is going to have to blink first.

You could say the ball is firmly in Fenerbahce’s court. They are by far the most interested party in signing Ozil and if Arsenal really do want to move the player on, they may be forced to bite the bullet and pay most of the German’s wages.

Despite [reported interest](https://readarsenal.com/2019/10/14/milan-and-inter-linked-with-ozil-moves-would-this-be-better-for-him/) from Italy, it’s hard to see where else the player could end up.

Arsenal would be foolish to throw away the opportunity of moving the player on, if that’s the direction they want to take.

As a result of his wages, suitors may be few and far between so Arsenal must approach any deal with caution.
