Arsenal’s five summer targets assessed – should the Gunners go back in for any?

Arsenal were fairly busy over the summer transfer window in terms of incomings and outgoings.

Nicolas Pepe, who is yet to make his mark in the Premier League, was the marquee addition, joining in a club-record £72 million deal from Lille.

William Saliba was the first signing of the summer, with the Gunners sending the teenage defender back to Saint Etienne on a season-long loan.

David Luiz, Kieran Tierney, Gabriel Martinelli and Dani Ceballos also arrived in north London, while Alex Iwobi and Laurent Koscielny were the two high-profile summer departures.

Despite the six summer signings in a productive window for the Gunners, they also missed out on multiple other targets across Europe.

So following the opening months of the new season, we’ve decided to have a look at five players Arsenal seriously considered over the summer, looking at whether or not the Gunners should revisit their interest in any in the new year.
