Sanllehi urges Ozil to put more effort in – He’s spot on

Arsenal’s head of football Raul Sanllehi has urged midfielder Mesut Ozil to give more effort if he wants to earn a place in Unai Emery’s first-team squad.

The German international has not been in Arsenal’s matchday squad for the last three games.

Emery recently revealed that he was not picking Ozil because other players in the squad deserved a place more than him.

When speaking at a fan forum, which was quoted in the Independent, Sanllehi said:

There is nothing against Mesut on the contrary and I hope we get to see him much more in the next games because his qualities are without question, but he needs to contribute 24/7 and that’s what Unai expects from him.

It’s not that he’s not working so well, but there are others who are deserving more playing time, but Unai can’t treat him differently than any other player.

You may have read that Unai has put a barrier up, but nothing at all like this has happened.

Can Ozil get back into the Arsenal team?

READ ARSENAL VERDICT

Definitely. The playmaker just needs to show the hunger and desire to play for the team and he’ll be back in the squad.

Sanllehi’s comments will be pleasing to Arsenal fans because he is being honest, rather than trying to cover up any potential issue.

The answer for Ozil is simple – work hard in training and keep putting in the effort. If he follows Sanllehi’s advice, he’ll be back in the thick of the action for the Gunners.
