Tierney ‘close’ to Premier League debut – this could kickstart Arsenal’s top-four charge

Unai Emery has revealed that Kieran Tierney is close to making his Premier League debut for the Gunners.

The Scot was named on the bench against Bournemouth on Sunday as he continues his recovery from a hernia operation.

Speaking after the game, as reported by the Mirror, Emery said:

Kieran Tierney is closer to us, he played on Thursday and today he was on the bench if we needed him. Hector Bellerin needs a little more time, more matches and more training.

Supporters were given their first glimpse of the player recently in the League Cup and it doesn’t look like they’ll have to wait much longer to see him in Premier League action.

You only have to look at the performances against Nottingham Forest and Standard Liege to see what a difference both Tierney and Bellerin will make to this Arsenal squad.

Not only will the Gunners be more solid defensively, but in the attack, they have two dangerous outlets on either flank.

Albeit against weaker opposition, the Gunners looked like a different side going forward and seeing these two players back in the team could really kickstart the club’s charge to finish inside the top four.

As things stand, Arsenal are still a little inconsistent at both ends of the pitch, but Emery will be hoping that Bellerin and Tierney will be the difference makers.
