Arsenal prepared to pay £50m for Malen – would it be a sensible move?

Arsenal are prepared to battle with AC Milan to secure the services of PSV forward Donyell Malen, and the Gunners are willing to pay £50m for the Dutchman, according to Calciomercato.

Malen has been subject to interest from multiple clubs after making an impressive start in the Eredivisie this season. The Dutch international has already scored eight goals in eight appearances so far this season.

Arsenal let Malen go just over a year ago, with the academy player joining PSV for only £540k, and has since gone on to thoroughly impress in Holland. His stunning form has in turn interested former club Arsenal, with the London club willing to spend big to secure the services of their former academy players.

However, they are not the only club interested in signing Donyell Malen, with Serie A side AC Milan reportedly monitoring his progress in the Eredivisie.

Arsenal will really have to spend big to bring Malen back to the Emirates. The only problem with that is, would he be able to cut it in the Premier League, taking into account the amount of money they would have to shell out for a relatively unproven striker.

Furthermore, with Arsenal boasting a strong attack force, would Malen break into the side, or would he be solely used as squad depth for the Gunners. If that was the case, Arsenal should look elsewhere, but if he was to start for the Gunners, it could be more sensible.
