Arsenal returned to winning ways in the league with a less than convincing 1-0 win over Bournemouth at the Emirates stadium.
David Luiz scored the only goal of the game in the ninth minute, and that was enough for the Gunners to get the three points.
A good corner from Nicolas Pepe met the head of the Brazilian centre-back, who powered his header into the back of the net.
Bournemouth barely threatened in the first half, barring a close-range header Dominic Solanke.
The Cherries did make a good start to the second half when Callum Wilson rounded Bernd Leno and cut back, only to see that there was no teammate to finish a good move off.
They had other chances later on to equalise, but the clinical edge was missing.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had a chance to make it 2-0 in the stoppage time, but the striker hit the post.
Here’s how we rated the Arsenal players after this game:
Bernd Leno - 6
He was good with the ball at his feet and didn’t have to do too much in terms of making saves.
Calum Chambers - 7
Has forced his way into the team while playing in an unfamiliar role and played well again today.
He was good on the ball and defended well when required.
Sokratis - 7
One of the easier afternoons when it came to defending his box. He was good on the ball while playing out from the back.
David Luiz - 8
Headed Arsenal in front with a powerful header and dealt with the danger of Wilson well. One of his better performances in an Arsenal shirt.
Sead Kolasinac - 7
With his place on the line amidst the return of Kieran Tierney, Kolasinac played well today and stood up when required.
Granit Xhaka - 6
The captain was good on the ball but clumsy tackles didn’t help his cause while defending. A solid enough performance.
Matteo Guendouzi - 8
The youngster continued his good start to the season with another solid and combative display in midfield.
He is now a good user of the ball and is not afraid of doing the dirty work.
Dani Ceballos - 7
The Spaniard was good on the ball and linked the play very well. The good thing about him is he is not afraid to work for the team without the ball. A dynamic display.
Subbed off in the second half.
Nicolas Pepe - 6
Delivered an inch-perfect corner for Luiz to head in the goal. Other than that, he showed some good touches without really being effective in the final third.
Subbed off around the hour mark.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - 6
Worked tirelessly for the team without getting a lot of chances to score. The Gabon star did get one right at the end of the game, from which he hit the post.
Bukayo Saka - 7
Continued on from where he left off at Old Trafford and delivered another good performance. He is a lively winger who is not afraid of taking people on and creating good moments for the team.
Subbed off in the second half.
(SUB) Gabrielle Martinelli - 6
Came on around the hour mark and showed some good touches to boot his two goals on Thursday.
(SUB) Joe Willock - 5
Came on in the final 15 minutes to add fresh to the midfield and see the game out.
(SUB) Lucas Torreira - N/A
Came on in the last seven minutes and didn’t have enough time to impact the game.
