Ex-Spurs man M’Poku aims dig at Arsenal – will he threaten the club tonight?

Arsenal will be coming up against a former Tottenham player this evening in the form of Paul-Jose M’Poku and he has had plenty to say about the Gunners.

Ahead of the meeting with Arsenal in the Europa League, Standard’s M’Poku has taken his opportunity to have a cheeky dig at the club’s supporters.

Speaking to Het Laatste Nieuws, as cited on Sport Witness, the player said:

What I remember about the Emirates Stadium? The decor and the field are impressive, the atmosphere is a lot less. It is not Sclessin [Standard’s home stadium]. Three thousand Standard fans are coming today, we will hear more [from them] than Arsenal’s [supporters].

After his comments about the club, could he pose a big threat to Arsenal this evening?

M’Poku has clearly taken some inspiration from Serge Gnabry this week, with the former Arsenal man taunting Tottenham on social media, despite no longer being a Gunner.

The midfielder enjoyed three years at Tottenham but never made a first-team appearance before eventually moving on.

It’s also not the first time he has played agianst Arsenal in his career, but you can imagine that given his Tottenham history, he’ll be looking to put in a big performance this evening.

M’Poku has enjoyed a good start to the season, so he’s certainly a player the club will need to be wary of. Three goals in six starts across all competitions is a decent return for the midfielder.

Tricky on the ball, M’Poku will be looking to make things happen for Liege, who will be out to cause an upset in Group F.
