# Arsenal fans vent frustration as Liverpool avoid Carabao Cup expulsion

Liverpool have avoided being thrown out of the Carabao Cup despite fielding an ineligible player against MK Dons, and it’s fair to say that the news hasn’t gone down well with some Arsenal supporters.

The Reds found out on Wednesday that they will be allowed to [stay in the competition but will have to pay a £200,000 fine](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2019/10/02/liverpool-given-200000-fine-for-fielding-ineligible-player-in-carabao-cup/) for playing Pedro Chirivella in the 2-0 win.

That means that the Gunners will still face another tricky trip to Anfield after initially hoping that Jurgen Klopp’s side could face expulsion from the competition.

Arsenal fan page [@WorldwideAFC](https://twitter.com/WorldwideAFC/status/1179462531049545733) shared the news on social media on Wednesday evening, which led to these Gunners supporters giving their views on the punishment.

> Twitter: @WorldwideAFC Why have rules if all you get is a fine (@hough\_paddy)

> Twitter: @WorldwideAFC Next time when we get a red card, we should just play the same player in the next match, the fine is only 200k (@EyeUnai)

The news doesn’t really come as a surprise, but what is interesting is that the Reds are allowed to wait until the end of the 2020/21 season to pay the second £100,000 instalment.

Some Arsenal fans would have been secretly wishing that they wouldn’t have to travel to Merseyside for the second time in three months following their 3-1 defeat in August.

But with the matter now resolved, Unai Emery will now take a young Gunners side to Anfield at the end of the month as they continue their quest for a first League Cup triumph since 1993.
