# Arsenal fans react as Dortmund CEO aims dig at Aubameyang

Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has aimed a dig at Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, claiming that money was behind his move to Arsenal.

Speaking about the Gabon forward, [as reported by the Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/borussia-dortmund-chief-takes-swipe-20388256), he said:

> Aubameyang, who plays great at Arsenal, will probably be warm-hearted when he looks at his bank account, but on Wednesdays will be saddened when he has to watch the Champions League on television.

Aubameyang joined Arsenal back in January 2018 in a deal worth £56 million and has been a huge success in London ever since.

These Arsenal fans were quick to hit back at Watzke for his comments about the striker’s motives.

> Twitter: @afcstuff I’d love to know how many white Dortmund alumni Watzke has made similar complaints about…\

It’s refreshing to see that Arsenal fans aren’t taking too much notice of these comments.

They’re confident that Aubameyang’s goals can lead the club back into the top four and there is certainly a chance for them to do just that this season.

With question marks surrounding Tottenham’s form and Chelsea being a little inconsistent at the back, there could be an opening for the Gunners, but they themselves need to step up after a tricky few weeks in the Premier League.
