Opposition Dangerman: Standard Liege (H)
Arsenal will be looking to return to winning ways on Thursday in the Europa League with a win against Belgian side Standard Liege.
Liege are currently flying high near the top end of their league, sitting second with nine games played – just one point off the top.
A player who has been playing a big role in their success is Mehdi Carcela. The name might be recognisable to some Arsenal fans following his role in the Morocco side at the 2018 World Cup.
So far this season, Carcela has made nine league appearances and in these, he has managed to notch four assists.
Arsenal will need to be aware of his vision and passing ability, especially on the counter attack as we expect the home side to have most of the ball throughout the game. If the Moroccan international is given the opportunity, he will more than likely deliver a good pass.
As well as being a good passer of the ball, Carcela doesn’t shy away from the physical challenge in midfield, as he has already received a red card in the league after only nine games, as well as three yellows, two of which resulted in the red.
A win in this game is crucial for Arsenal as it would put them in a fantastic spot for qualification into the next round.
Meanwhile, Liege are in a similar situation after an impressive 2-0 win in their last Europa League outing. Thursday night will be a good test for Arsenal and they must not underestimate the Belgian side because they have players with immense quality who will be looking to prove a point.
