# Arsenal fans urge Emery to play Ozil which will ‘benefit’ Pepe – a good move?

Arsenal fans have urged Unai Emery to play Mesut Ozil in a bid to help Nicolas Pepe kickstart his Gunners career – but should the Spaniard listen?

The Ivorian, who has scored just once this season, cut a frustrated figure against Manchester United on Monday and was replaced by Reiss Nelson with 17 minutes remaining.

Pepe was arguably Arsenal’s poorest performer at Old Trafford, which has led to slight criticism from some Gunners fans.

Arsenal fan page [@WorldwideAFC](https://twitter.com/WorldwideAFC/status/1179056894658453506) recently urged the Gunners boss to bring in playmaker Ozil to play alongside Pepe in a bid to help the club-record signing recover from his poor form.

And these Gunners supporters were quick to agree with the opinion, with a selection of replies available to view below.

> Twitter: @WorldwideAFC I agree I think Pepe has so much potential and has years to prove it. Everyone speaks so quickly abou… https://t.co/H7tOEiePkq (@AlcortaNoah)

> Twitter: @WorldwideAFC @Au6ameyang Ozil needed strikers who can run behind the defence, we gave him Giroud\
> Now we have Pepe and Auba, we bench Ozil (@Bestdgooner)

> Twitter: @WorldwideAFC You’ve said it all. He’s a bad manager for not seeing this. (@miroyoo20)

But would it be a good move?

Pepe was always going to need time to settle into Premier League life, however, many weren’t expecting the 24-year-old to be as poor as he has been in his eight appearances so far.

Bringing Ozil back into the side to feature alongside the club-record signing could be a shrewd move.

The German’s exquisite passing range would allow Pepe to receive the ball in more advanced positions, which could then result in the forward creating and scoring more goals.

He’s currently been picking the ball up fairly deep and has been under immense pressure to make something happen at the Emirates, so bringing the German back into the side may not only benefit Ozil himself, but it could also bring out the best in Pepe.
