# Khedira turned down Everton waiting for Arsenal move – did the Gunners miss a trick?

Juventus star Sami Khedira turned down the chance to join Everton over the summer because he wanted a move to the Emirates.

That’s according to [CalcioMercato, cited by Sports Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/player-evaluated-offer-everton-waited-arsenal-call-never-came/), who claim that the German had offers from the Toffees and Turkish giants Fenerbahce but declined them both as he was hoping for a move to the Gunners.

A move to the Emirates, as we all know, never materialised, and the defensive-minded midfielder is now forcing his way into Maurizio Sarri’s plans in Turin.

Unai Emery failed to add to defensive midfield options over the summer, so did the Gunners miss a trick by not making a move for Khedira?

### Read Arsenal verdict

Plenty of Arsenal fans were worrying over the fact the Gunners didn’t add to their holding midfield ranks, however, with both Matteo Guendouzi and Joe Willock shining in the early stages, the decision to not move for Khedira looks to be the right one.

Club captain Granit Xhaka and Lucas Torreira are also available to Emery, while Ainsley Maitland-Niles is also hoping to force his way into the Spaniard’s central midfield ranks.

Khedira would have brought plenty of experience to north London, however, he also would’ve demanded a high wage, and with the midfielder edging towards the end of his career, we believe the Gunners made the right call in deciding against making a move for the German.
