Arsenal have played down suggestions that Kieran Tierney has suffered a setback in his bid to return to full fitness.
As reported by Ben Dinnery, the player was not expected to feature at all against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Despite this, his exclusion from the squad came as a surprise to some, but the Gunners are adamant the player is still making progress.

This will be a great boost for Arsenal as they simply cannot afford to rush Tierney back.
The Gunners have to be patient and allow him enough time to make a full recovery.
You only have to look at how impressive he was against Nottingham Forest in the cup, albeit against weaker opposition, to see what an impact he could have on the team once he’s fully fit.
Everyone at the club and Tierney himself you’d imagine will be eager to get up and running as soon as possible, but after joining for such big money, they have to ensure that he is in the best shape or they risk further damage.
