# Arsenal fans produce brilliant reactions as Saliba returns from injury

Arsenal summer signing William Saliba made his first appearance of the season for St Etienne on the weekend, and the Frenchman’s return from injury left many Gunners fans excited.

The 18-year-old, who made the move to the Emirates in a deal worth £27 million, had been out of action with a muscle problem.

The teenager had surgery back in August and was spotted at Arsenal’s training ground recently as he stepped up his recovery.

Saliba was fit enough to make the bench for St Etienne in their Ligue 1 clash with Nimes on Sunday, and the defender came on in the closing stages to help them seal a 1-0 win, which was their first victory in seven games.

This led to Arsenal parody account [@Aubazettes](https://twitter.com/Aubazettes/status/1178395672065822720) sending out this brilliant sarcastic tweet regarding Saliba’s return, and these Arsenal fans couldn’t help but get involved.

### Read Arsenal verdict

All jokes aside, it’s great to see the youngster back out on the pitch.

Arsenal officials rate him extremely highly, and it’s easy to see why. He’s tall, authoritative and showed maturity beyond his year which resulted in his big-money move to London.

He’ll now need to stay fit for the majority of the season and impress if he is to walk into Unai Emery’s side next season, and if he can, he could play a key role in resolving the Gunners’ defensive problems.
