Arsenal fans call for Luiz-Holding partnership after his solid United display

David Luiz came in for some unusual praise from Arsenal fans following his performance against Manchester United on Monday.

The Brazilian once again partnered Sokratis at the heart of the Gunners’ defence and looked fairly solid throughout on a dismal Old Trafford evening.

Unai Emery’s side came away with a point after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s second-half strike cancelled out Scott McTominay’s opener, but it was summer signing Luiz that had Arsenal fan page @LTArsenal talking.

A tweet shared heaped praise on the ball-playing defender, and these Gunners fans agreed, with many now calling for the former Chelsea man to partner the returning Rob Holding going forward.

Twitter: @ltarsenal Agreed, dropping Sokratis for Holding next weekend seems obvious enough for even Emery to do it (@stethal)

Twitter: @ltarsenal Yeah holding will have to replace Sokratis, Luiz was good today! (@gooner_swedish)

But would that be a wise move?

We can’t see a reason why that wouldn’t be a smart decision by the Gunners boss.

Luiz would help Holding settle back into Premier League life after a lengthy spell on the sidelines, and he’d also provide the Englishman with plenty of top tier experience.

Holding, who many Arsenal fans expect big things from, has been with the Gunners for three years now, however, he remains fairly inexperienced in the Premier League, so Luiz’s presence alongside him could be key.

It’s definitely worth a go over the coming weeks, and the proposed partnership could be the one the Gunners have been crying out for all along, you never know!
