Monday sees the return of one of the Premier League’s fiercest rivalries as Arsenal travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United.
In seasons past, this fixture used to decide the winner of titles, however, in recent seasons, this meeting has been less significant. But, that does not mean that the intensity between these two have dropped, as to gain bragging rights over each other is still a massive incentive.
This is a huge game for Ole Gunnar Solskjær, as he is under pressure at the moment due to a very poor performance last week against West Ham.
United’s season has failed to kick on since their empathic 4-0 win against Chelsea on the first weekend. Also, Solskjær’s managerial strength will be tested here as a lack of fit senior strikers puts a spanner in the works.
Unai Emery, on the other hand, will be feeling a lot more confident after seeing his side come back and win 3-2 against Aston Villa last week, despite being a man down. He will be hoping for a big win to put any doubters he has to rest.
Whilst both sets of fans will be unwilling to admit it, these clubs have a lot in common.
Both have appointed new and modern managers in the hope to rejuvenate the club. Both sets of fans have had strive with lack of signings and ownership. Both clubs used to compete for titles, but now are in a process of rebuilding.
Sticking with the theme of commonality, we look at a combined XI from both teams in preparation for the hotly contested game on Monday.
