Opposition Dangerman: Manchester United (A)
After a comfortable 5-0 win at home to Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup, Arsenal are preparing for a trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United, who struggled in the cup competition in midweek.
United have only two wins so far this season, both of which have come at Old Trafford, meaning Arsenal will need to play well if they are to beat Monday night’s hosts.
Old Trafford has, in the past, proven to be a very difficult place to travel to for most sides in the Premier League. Meanwhile, Arsenal are known to have one of the worst records of any club that has travelled to Manchester – the Gunners have not managed a win at the ground since 2006.
A player in which Arsenal will need to be wary of during the game is young Welshman Daniel James. The pacey forward has proven to be very tricky for many sides in the Premier League this season and he’ll be looking to put in another good performance against a top six side, just as he did against Chelsea earlier in the season.
James has appeared in all six Premier League games this season and has managed to score three goals already in his debut season in the top tier of English football.
As well as being wary of his pace on the wing, Arsenal need to ensure that they do not let him cut onto his right foot in the area because, as he has already proven, he has the ability to find the back of the net in big matches.
If Arsenal are to come away from the game with all three points, it will take their tally up to 14 for the season, which makes for a very positive start to the season.
