Granit Xhaka has been named as Arsenal’s permanent captain for the season by Unai Emery.
According to David Ornstein, the players were consulted about the decision and it is the Swiss midfielder who will take the armband.
There has been no decision on who will be the vice-captain, but Ornstein adds that it could be between Lacazette & Aubameyang.
Given how unpopular Xhaka has become with supporters, these fans on social media are furious with the decision.

These Arsenal fans don’t want to see Xhaka in the team, let alone for him to have the armband as well.
It has been clear for some time that he is not a player that the fans hold great affection for, but there are clearly some qualities that Emery sees in him.
He has been ever-present in Emery’s midfield this season and despite his performances not always being up to scratch, he continues to be a regular feature in the side.
WhoScored have given Xhaka a rating of 6.62 from his five Premier League appearances this season, leaving him ranked 12th out of the 20 players who have featured so far in this campaign – which gives you an idea as to why supporters may be feeling a little frustrated with the player.
