The harsh reality of academy football is that not every player will make it professionally in the Premier League straight away.
Arsenal appear to have made a decision on Flaherty’s future and after joining the club as an U11, it’s a shame that he isn’t going to be going on to secure a professional deal.
The report goes on to add that Flaherty scored during a trial game for the Hammers last Saturday – a huge boost in his hopes of securing a deal.
From Arsenal’s perspective, they have a host of young talented stars coming through the ranks and unfortunately, Flaherty looks like one of the unlucky few that will miss out.
The Gunners will not be losing too much sleep over his departure, with the club boasting a wealth of talent at academy level.
