# Arsenal fans share delight after hearing Martinez set for first Argentina call-up

Arsenal fans have heaped praise on Emiliano Martinez after hearing that the shot-stopper looks set to earn a first call-up to the Argentina national side.

According to Argentine outlet [@TyCSports](https://twitter.com/TyCSports), cited by [@DailyAFC](https://twitter.com/DailyAFC/status/1177162166610399232), the goalkeeper will be called up to the national side for the friendlies against Germany and Ecuador next month.

The 27-year-old has featured twice for the Gunners this season, impressing in the wins over Eintracht Frankfurt and Nottingham Forest.

His positive attitude around the Emirates has come in for plenty of praise from Gunners fans, with Martinez hoping to take over as first-choice ‘keeper from Bernd Leno in the near future.

And these Arsenal fans were quick to share their love for the South American after hearing the news.

### Read Arsenal verdict

Many viewed Martinez as a goalkeeper Arsenal needed to cash in on 12 months ago, however, after his impressive individual six-month stint with Reading, the Argentine has continued to kick on.

He is now seriously rivalling Leno for the starting spot under Emery, so if he continues to impress in the Gunners’ cup competitions before the new year, he could find himself leapfrogging the German in the second half of the season.
