# Arsenal fans react to Monreal’s impressive start with Real Sociedad – were the Gunners right to sell?

Nacho Monreal has made a solid start to life back in Spain with Real Sociedad, with some Arsenal fans claiming it was an error in letting the left-back go.

The 33-year-old ended his six-and-a-half-year spell in north London at the end of the summer, with Sociedad paying the Gunners just £225,000 for his services.

Monreal, who won three FA Cups and three Community Shields with Arsenal, has impressed during his first four appearances for the La Liga side.

He’s helped them climb up to third in the table after three wins and a draw, scoring against Atletico Madrid earlier in the month.

And these Arsenal fans were quick to reply to [@PatrickTimmons1](https://twitter.com/PatrickTimmons1/status/1177309236130439169) appreciation post regarding the defender after hearing of his positive start, with some believing the Gunners made a mistake by parting ways with the experienced full-back.

But were the Gunners right to sell Monreal?

### Read Arsenal verdict

It’s great to see Monreal already catching the eye with his new side, however, we think Arsenal were right to part ways with Monreal over the summer.

The player was keen on a return to his native country, and with long-term target Kieran Tierney eventually signed, Monreal was never going to turn out on a regular basis throughout the current campaign under Unai Emery.

Sead Kolasinac will provide solid cover to Tierney throughout the season, so selling Monreal was really in the best interests of the player and the club.
