Mesut Ozil was handed just his second start of the season by Unai Emery in the 5-0 win over Nottingham Forest on Tuesday, and his under the radar performance went down well with Arsenal supporters.
The German, who has struggled for game time this season, played 70 minutes against the Championship side before being replaced by summer signing Dani Ceballos.

The Gunners went on to score four more goals after Ozil left the field through Rob Holding, Joe Willock, Reiss Nelson and Gabriel Matrinelli’s second of the game.
However, @WorldwideAFC was quick to point out after the match that the German created more chances than any other Arsenal player and more than Forest did as a whole.
Twitter: Mesut Özil created more chances (6) than:
•Any other Arsenal player on the pitch against Nottingham Forest.
•More… https://t.co/2dvh6Fjxz9 (@WorldwideAFC)
And these Gunners supporters were quick to reply to the post, with many praising the playmaker’s under the radar performance.

Twitter: @WorldwideAFC He needs to be starting. (@LawrenceSciambr)
Twitter: @WorldwideAFC It was good to see Özil. Not good to see him substituted. (@KjendlieOle)
Twitter: @WorldwideAFC which probably means that Unai will bench him for the next 3 or 4 games (@itzjustsen)

Ozil certainly enjoyed a solid display against Forest, however, it would be interesting to see how many of the six chances he created were clearcut.

Personally, I was surprised to see him replaced with 20 minutes to go. Forest were clearly tiring, and with Ozil featuring in just 70 minutes of football this season before the clash on Tuesday, it would have made sense to give him the full 90.
Maybe it means Ozil is in Emery’s plans for the trip to Old Trafford on Monday? Only time will tell.
