Arsenal fans in hysterics as Sherwood slams Aubameyang’s penalty decision

Tim Sherwood has slammed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s decision to hand Nicolas Pepe the penalty against Aston Villa on Sunday.

Despite the Gunners being a goal behind, the Gabonese striker passed up the opportunity to find the back of the net from the spot by giving Pepe the chance to open his account.

Pepe just did that before Aubemayang found the back of the net late on to secure a 3-2 victory for the home side.

Speaking about the decision to Premier League productions, as cited on social media, Sherwood said:

Harry Kane wouldn’t do it. Aguero wouldn’t do it. I don’t want ‘nice’ men, I want winners.

These Arsenal fans on Twitter have been quick to hit back at the former Tottenham manager for his comments about the decision.

In his latest efforts to remind everybody of the role he played in Harry Kane’s rise to prominence, these comments from Sherwood don’t quite add up.

Demanding a winning mentality is one thing, but to then name a player who hasn’t won a single major trophy during his professional career is a little strange.

Putting his team-mates above his personal goal tally was in fact something that plenty of Arsenal fans praised the striker for doing.

The goal wil be a huge confidence booster for Pepe and if he can kick on from this now, Aubameyang’s decision will go on to look like a very smart move.

Sherwood has become known among football fans for his questionable opinions and comments like this show that isn’t going to change anytime soon.
